ROAN MOUNTAIN – A mobile home on Walnut Mountain was destroyed by fire Tuesday morning.
Deputy Ross Frizzell of the Carter County Sheriff's Department said when he arrived on the scene at 130 Walnut Mountain Road, Roan Mountain, he found the mobile home completely burned as well as fire damage to two vehicles parked next to the residence.
Frizzell spoke to the owner of the residence, Ronnie Dean Jones, who lives up the road from the burned trailer. Jones said his brother, Rickey Campbell, lived in the trailer, but he had been in North Carolina since Sunday.
Jones said that when he woke up Tuesday morning he looked out the window at 9:30 a.m. and noticed smoke coming from the trailer.
