A Johnson City man is facing a dozen charges following an investigation into stolen checks, police said.
According to a Johnson City Police Department news release, Wesley B. Lawson, 210½ Hamilton St., was arrested Thursday and charged with eight counts of forgery, two counts of identity theft and two counts of theft of property over $1,000.
Police said the arrest came after a probe into stolen checks that were passed at Eastman Credit Union and BB&T Bank. The checks were made payable to Lawson and passed during the last week of January. Lawson was allegedly seen on surveillance bank video footage completing the transactions.
Lawson was being held in the Washington County Detention Center on $120,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court today at 9 a.m.
