ABINGDON, Va. – Two people were arrested Tuesday for separate break-ins of two local businesses in Abingdon, according to a Washington County, Va., Sheriff’s Office news release.

According to the release, early Tuesday morning the Wildflower Bakery, 24443 Lee Highway, and Pizza Plus, 24465 Lee Highway, were broken into and cash, jewelry and electronics were reportedly taken.

James Dylan Holmes, 20, 8370 Dublin Lane, and Charles David Black, 22, 26829 Denton Valley Road, both of Abingdon, were arrested.

“It was determined that the two suspects had backed their vehicle into a large drainage ditch in front of the business that had just broken into. The suspects were attempting to move the vehicle when deputies arrived on (the) scene,” Sheriff Fred Newman said.

Holmes was charged with two counts of breaking and entering, one count of grand larceny and one count of petit larceny.

Black was charged with one count of breaking and entering and one count of grand larceny.

Both were taken to the Southwest Virginia Regional Jail in Abingdon and were being held on $3,000 bonds each.
