Police said a homeowner discovered a 17-year-old boy inside his residence carrying a shotgun during a burglary attempt Sunday.
Johnson City police responded to a residential burglary call at 2324 W. Brook Lane. The homeowner told police he had discovered a male burglar inside the residence and when confronted, the intruder ran from the residence. The homeowner told police the burglar was carrying a "long rifle" when he ran from the residence, according to a news release.
Police found a loaded shotgun near the reported victim’s home. A search of the area was conducted and a 17-year-old boy was located in the area and identified as the alleged burglar.
The teen was charged with aggravated burglary, armed and dangerous felony and underage consumption. He was transported to the Regional Juvenile Detention Center, where he was awaiting a hearing.
