2nd woman charged in October burglary

ELIZABETHTON – A second arrest has been made in the burglary of a woman's home back in October.

April Lynn Rash, 35, 199 Swimming Pool Road, Hampton, was arrested over the Christmas weekend by Sgt. Shane Darling of the Elizabethton Police Department on a warrant taken out by Investigator Larry Vaughn of the Carter County Sheriff's Department on charges of aggravated burglary and theft under $500.

Rash is accused of entering the unlocked residence of Bertie N. Hodge on Riettertown Road and participating the in the theft of several wrist watches, women's jewelry, medication and $20 in coins.

Previously the sheriff's department had arrested Amy Colette Church, 25, also of 199 Swimming Pool Road. Church had been arrested after a wallet was found in Hodge's home that contained two Food City Value cards. The cards were taken to the grocery store and traced to Church.

Carter County deputies Wayne Pritchard and Ross Frizzel reported they had seen Church and Rash walking near Hodge's house on the day of the burglary.
