A local auto dealership reported Thursday that vehicle parts and accessories had been taken off of some of the vehicles in its lot, according to a Johnson City police news release.

The release said an officer responded to a theft at Chaparral Pontiac Buick GMC Trucks Auto Service, 3514 Bristol Highway.

When police arrived, a silver 2013 GMC 2500, two 2013 GMC Denalis, a Chevrolet Suburban, a 2013 maroon GMC 2500 and a maroon 2007 GMC Yukon had all been placed on cinderblocks with the wheels gone.

A white 2008 GMC Denali truck and a white 2007 Suburban had lug nuts removed, but the wheels had been left on.

Chaparral representative William Adams told police the wheels taken were 20-inch wheels that belonged to the dealership. The owner later told police that the wheels and tires run around $2,000 a set for a new vehicle, but that it would be around $3,500 a set to order as replacements.

Police said a partial print was lifted from the Chevrolet Suburban and a cinderblock with a blue paint mark was placed into evidence. The blue paint mark was observed on a couple of blocks, which police suspect could be from a floor jack.

The removed lug nuts appeared to have been removed with an impact driver, and all removed lug nuts were left near the vehicles.

Police said most center caps were taken.

No known cameras were in the area and the area to pull behind the service area, which is normally blocked with a vehicle, was not blocked.
