HAMPTON – The Carter County Sheriff’s Department received reports on Friday that a vandal had spread human excrement on the walls and floors of some rooms at Hampton First Baptist Church late Thursday night or Friday.
Larry Trusler reported the vandalism to Deputy Wayne Pritchard on Friday night. He said the excrement had been smeared on the men's room floor and walls, the hallway floor, the women’s restroom floor and the library floor. Trusler said excrement was also found in the trash can outside the rear door. He said someone had also urinated on the mats located at the rear door.
Trusler told Pritchard there were no signs of forced entry and a church door might have been unlocked following Vacation Bible School services on Thursday.
