ROAN MOUNTAIN — A Thursday afternoon crash in the 500 block of Hampton Creek Road was caused by a medical problem, according to the Carter County Sheriff's Department.Sgt. Larry Vaughn said an older man was driving when he suffered the medical emergency and ran off the road, striking two cars parked at a residence. The impact caused one of the parked cars to strike the porch of the residence.Vaughn said the driver was taken by medical helicopter to the Johnson City Medical Center. He said he did not know the condition of the man at the time of the report. More details will be released later.
