GREENEVILLE — A Johnson City woman accused of taking money so three of her children could be used in a pornography production pleaded guilty Wednesday to one of the federal charges filed against her last year.
Connie McCall was indicted along with her husband, Ronnie McCall, in U.S. District Court in October on charges of production of child pornography, production of child pornography by parent, coercion and enticement of a minor and the selling of a child by parents.
The victims in the case are three of the McCalls’ four daughters, who were 11, 14 and 16 at the time of the offenses. The youngest child, 5 years old at the time, was not involved in the pornography incidents, but was a victim in a previous child neglect case against the McCalls.
According to documents filed in federal court, Connie McCall pleaded guilty to production of child pornography by a parent. The offense carries a prison sentence of 15 to 30 years and a maximum fine of $250,000. She will be sentenced April 21.
Ronnie McCall’s case is still pending and his attorney recently filed a motion for a mental evaluation on the man.
According to an order signed by Judge Dennis Inman, Ronnie McCall’s attorney “believes an evaulation is necessary to address the questions and concerns he has regarding defendant’s current mental health and the need for any medication. Since the filing of the motion, defense counsel obtained mental health records which further increase his concerns regarding defendant’s competency.”
Once that evaluation is complete, the judge will decide the next course of action.
Prior to the federal charges, the McCalls were charged in Washington County in July 2012 on child abuse and neglect charges after Johnson City police officers found their children living in deplorable conditions at Heritage Mobile Home Park off South Roan Street.
The couple pleaded guilty to those charges in August and were sentenced to three years probation.
