A Christmas Day traffic stop led Washington County Sheriff's Office deputies to arrest a 21-year-old Johnson City man on drug and weapon charges.
Sheriff Ed Graybeal said a police dog helped deputies find about one-quarter pound of marijuana in the car. Nearly $800 in cash was seized.
Arrested was Lance D. Howell, 36 Lake Village Court, after the stop on the Kingsport Highway at Barker Road.
Deputies stopped Howell about 12:35 a.m. Wednesday, and K-9 Stocky alerted them to the presence of drugs in Howell's Buick Regal. Graybeal said a hidden compartment was found on the vehicle containing about one-quarter pound of marijuana. Deputies seized $795 and the car.
Howell was charged with possession of schedule VI drugs for resale and possession of a prohibited weapon. He was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $11,000 bond and arraigned Thursday in Sessions Court.
