HAMPTON — A robber got away with approximately 2,500 oxycodone pills during an armed robbery of the Hampton Pharmacy, 339 Highway 321 on Monday afternoon.Sgt. Brian Durham said store employees told him a man wearing a black "hoodie"-type shirt, dark jeans, tan boots and a black mask entered the store around 5:45 p.m. They said he was brandishing a black pistol at employees.The robber told employees he wanted oxycodone and ordered them to fill a white bag he had brought with him. After obtaining the pills, he told the employees if they called the police he would come back and shoot them.A customer said he was just entering the pharmacy when the robber came out the door and ran behind the building in the direction of Laurel Fork.Capt. Sean Johnson responded along with other officers from the Criminal Investigations Division. Footprints were found behind the pharmacy leading toward the creek. A tracking dog was brought to the scene, but was unable to pick up the scent.The oxycodone was the only item taken in the robber. No cash was taken.The investigation is continuing.
