After reading letters on Dec. 10, I had to go back and read Dennis Prager’s column again. To the two people who wrote calling Prager a liar and a bigot, I have to ask: “What?” I see the usual pattern here. Progressive liberals often can’t defend their positions with truth and logic, so they resort to name calling.I am a proud American, but I weep for this nation for the way it is going. We are becoming more like a socialist country, while socialist countries are surging ahead of us because they are becoming more like capitalists. We have become so politically correct that we have to watch every word we say, or risk being called racist, bigoted, homophobic, or any of the other newly invented words.People are either supporting or ignoring the takeover of our rights by the government. The Affordable Care Act is a prime example. No way it is constitutional, but it is being forced on us. I predict that it will be the final act that will bankrupt this nation. It can’t possibly work, but the president and other liberals will continue to throw money at it with no good results.Meanwhile, don’t dare say “Merry Christmas.” That offends some people.ALLEN BRINEGARJohnson City
