East Tennessee State University President Brian Noland took to Twitter this morning to thank ETSU and the community for the "outpouring of support" he has received since being injured in a car crash earlier this week in Johnson City."My family and I are humbled by the outpouring of support from #ETSU and the community. Thank you!," Noland writes from his twitter account, @ETSUPrez.According to ETSU spokesman Joe Smith, Noland remains hospitalized after suffering injuries in the crash that took place Monday afternoon at the intersection of West Watauga Avenue and West Market Street.The
crash happened around 5 p.m. Monday, as Noland was traveling north on
West Watauga in a 2010 Acura MDX. A 1997 Freightliner F50 driven by Jackie L. White, Oak Dell Court,
was traveling west on West Market and ran the red light, police said.
The truck, owned by Larry & Terry’s Inc. of Elizabethton, struck Noland's vehicle as well as a
tree and a sign at Carver Park. Noland’s SUV also struck a utility pole.Smith said Noland will continue to "post a few things as much as he can" through Twitter to let members of the community know how he is doing."He's doing pretty good," Smith added. "He may go home sometime this week."
