A man was arrested after he allegedly tried to run his wife’s vehicle off the road twice between Okolona Road and University Parkway on Friday morning, according to Johnson City police.

Stuart Fritts, 46, No. 8 Staunton Circle, was charged with domestic aggravated assault after officers responded to a call about a reckless driver on South Roan Street.

Police followed Fritts and his wife, Shannon Fritts, 46, into the Johnson City Police Department parking lot where they conducted interviews.

Fritts told police that he was following and recording his wife on video with another man, according to the report.

Shannon Fritts, who was in the vehicle with Erwin resident Jeffrey Boitz, 42, told police that she recently filed for divorce, police said.

“She stated that (Stuart Fritts) pulled up beside her and then veered toward her vehicle almost running her off the road,” according to the report. “(Boitz) verified that (Stuart Fritts) attempted to run them off the road.”

An unloaded handgun that was in Stuart Fritts’ trunk was recorded as evidence, according to the report.

Stuart Fritts was being held at the Carter County Jail on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Carter County Sessions Court on Monday, July 8.
