Losing track of a beloved family pet is often a scary, and uncertain, situation.
On Sunday, Tracie Phillips and her son, Gunner Summie, discovered their dog, Rudy, was missing when they went to let him inside from the backyard of their Martindale neighborhood home at 2307 Old Lewis Road in south Johnson City.
“He’s got a big backyard here. When he wants in he just barks,” Phillips said. “All of a sudden we were getting ready to go to bed and ... noticed that the back gate was open.”
She said she’s been out looking for the dog since they found out he was missing, and said Rudy is extremely special to Gunner, 11, who is autistic.
“Rudy is the only dog he could ever have. He’s so gentle with Gunner and Gunner loves him,” Phillips said. “He does tricks. He just makes us laugh.”
She said Gunner and Rudy are always together.
“Gunner loves to film. He’s awesome with computers and stuff like that and Gunner constantly films him and that dog will sit there and he’ll howl,” Phillips said.
She said Rudy, a full Basset hound, weighing 65 pounds and about a foot-and-a-half tall, was wearing a white bandana with little teeth symbols on it before he went missing Sunday.
Phillips said he is a 10-year-old, black and white Basset with blue tick black spots on his ankles, as well as has some brown spots.
Phillips said she hopes they can locate their lost pet soon, and said anyone with information on Rudy can call 432-6809.
“Please help us find part of our family,” Phillips said. “Our home’s not complete.”
