Three Daniel Boone High School students have been arrested following a bomb threat that resulted in the school's evacuation earlier this week, Washington County Sheriff Ed Graybeal announced Thursday in a news release.
The girls, whose names were not released because of their ages, wrote a message in a Boone bathroom stall stating that there was a bomb in the building on Tuesday, the sheriff said. Another student discovered the threat around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The school was evacuated, and Sheriff's Office deputies and school personnel searched the building.
All three girls were charged with filing a false report and vandalism and taken to the Upper East Tennessee Regional Juvenile Detention Center in Johnson City. Appearances were set for Friday morning in Washington County Juvenile Court.
