A Jonesborough woman was caught with a BB gun fashioned to look like a semi-automatic pistol and counterfeit cash Wednesday as Johnson City police investigated a report about threats with a possible handgun, police said in reports.
Kasey D. Bishop, 19, 291 Matson Road, Jonesborough, was arrested after a traffic stop near the intersection of Bell Ridge and King Springs roads, police said in a news release.
In a court document, Johnson City Police Department Patrolman Christopher Arbaugh reported that he went to King Springs to check out a report that the occupants of a vehicle had threatened others, possibly using a handgun.
He spotted a vehicle matching the description pulling out of Rich Acres Free Will Baptist Church and tried to stop it. The vehicle turned onto Bell Ridge and continued up the hill and stopped at Cherry Hill Apartments, where a passenger got out and ran. Arbaugh ordered the driver and another passenger out of the vehicle.
Police searched the vehicle, finding the BB gun hidden behind the driver's purse in the passenger compartment. Police also found a glass pipe consistent with illegal drug use in the passenger door, as well as two counterfeit $10 bills, scales and a grinder in the driver's purse, Arbaugh said in the court record.
Bishop was charged with criminal simulation, driving on a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
She was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $12,000 bond pending arraignment today in Sessions Court.
