State Rep. James “Micah” Van Huss’ amended bills to prohibit United Nations representatives from monitoring Tennessee elections and keep state and local government employees from enforcing new federal gun laws failed today in a House Civil Justice Subcommittee.
But his third amended bill to limit future law enforcement drone use advanced out of the subcommittee. Van Huss, R-Jonesborough, said he operated surveillance drones while serving in the Marine Corps.
“(Drones) are a very effective tool in fighting against the bad guys...(but) I don’t want them to be that effective in infringing on the personal liberties of United States citizens,” Van Huss said.
