A Johnson City man was charged Thursday with stealing a car from a north Johnson City shopping center lot in June.
James Saylor, 33, 2357 Lakewood Village, was charged with theft of property over $1,000.
Police said in a news release Saylor was accused of stealing a vehicle from 1805 N. Roan St. on June 13 after Tara El Quafi reported the vehicle missing. The Roan Centre shopping complex is located at that address.
On June 30, El Quafi contacted Elizabethton Police Department and said she had located her stolen vehicle in the Walmart parking lot in Elizabethton. A video tape surveillance from the store parking lot was viewed by police, which allegedly showed Saylor dropping off the car.
Saylor was jailed in the Washington County Detention Center on $10,000 bond pending a Sessions Court appearance Friday.
