A Gray man was arrested Tuesday following an investigation into a theft at a local mall store, according to a police news release.
According to the release, Todd Lambert, 39, was charged after he brought back stolen items that he and another person allegedly took several months ago without paying for from Belk’s in the Mall at Johnson City, 2011 N. Roan St.
Lambert, who was seen with another person concealing the items and exiting the store, allegedly brought the items back into a different Belk’s store and returned them for a gift card minutes after the shoplifting, police said.
He was located by police and charged with theft of property over $500.
Lambert was being held on $1,000 bond in the Washington County Detention Center.
He is scheduled to appear in Sessions Court for a preliminary hearing today at 9 a.m.
